Footrot Flats - was a long running cartoon strip by New Zealand cartoonist Murray Ball. The cartoon appeared in over 120 newspapers in New Zealand and Australia, and was translated for readers in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Japan.
The animated movie was released in 1986 featuring the characters Dog and Wal. The movie screenplay was written by Murray Ball and Tom Scott and the movie soundtrack was written by Dave Dobbyn.
Dave Dobbyn - has been productive in the New Zealand music industry for three decades. He was a member of Th' Dudes in the late seventies and formed the band DD Smash in the mid eighties. The two songs Oughta Be In Love and Slice Of Heaven from Footrot Flats (accompanied by reggae group Herbs) were big hits in New Zealand and Australia.
Herbs - have been creating reggae music since 1979. After they worked on Footrot Flats with Dave Dobbyn they were joined by Tim Finn working on Parihaka. Import.flv (9.9 MB)
